What an amazing journey. We began our trip with a week in Seville. Our home away from home was outside the hustle and bustle of the big city in the smaller suburb of Gines. We enjoyed the spacious accommodations with the added benefit of a full kitchen, laundry facilities and swimming pool. Each day we returned to recharge our batteries for the next day’s adventures. Mr. Minguillon and Ms. Cloonan guided us each day to historic sites, quaint neighborhoods and wonderful restaurants. We ended our week in Seville with a memorable meal at Grupo La Raza.
After our week touring Seville, we relocated for a second week to Ronda. Our home this week was also away from the main downtown area in a quiet residential community. Again we had a kitchen, laundry and pool. Ronda was our home base for visits to Granada, Jerez and Antequera. Several times in both locations we cooked our dinner meal and enjoyed our evenings recounting all that we had experienced that day. Staying in a home was so much better than living out of our suitcases in a hotel.
Having a fluent bilingual guide such as Mr. Minguillon was so beneficial. On one tour in Cordoba, our guide was leading in English though it was not her first language, couldn’t come up with the proper English word for her commentary. Mr. Minguillon asked her to say it in Spanish and he would translate. Which he did 😊 He also effortlessly ordered taxis via telephone and communicated with shop keepers and waiters for us. Ms. Cloonan charmed the locals and kept our conversations going with her wit and humor. Overall I highly recommend Historic Tours of Spain if you are interested in exploring southern Spain!
